I have been following the organizational proceedings of the United Football League with interest.Congratulations are in order to the the executive officials (i.e. commissioner, personnel director, marketing director, etc.)for their insight and wisdom in postponing the inaugural season kick off until the ducks are in order, so to speak.

Having scouted collegiate talent for the past five years, I can say that there are athletes at the Div. I-AA and Div. II levels that could play in the UFL. As we all know NFL rosters were required to trim their rosters to the mandatory 53 count prior to the start of the season. Some of the most difficult decisions have to be made at the time of the final cuts. There is not a whole lot of difference between the 6th and 7th round draftees and some of the free agents. Decisions at final cut time are often made based upon the number of quality players already at certain positions.

Wes Welker (New England Patriots)is one such jewel to be found via free agency. I evaluated this young man for three years and knew he could play if given the opportunity. Another is Danny Amendola, recently cut by the Dallas Cowboys.He was caught in the numbers game but will catch on elsewhere.

Other than the quarterback position, six UFL squads could find quality talent enough to begin play on 2009. I would be happy to scout quality athletes for this league.
