Michael Vick a UFL Star Quarterback

August 9th, 2007 by ChrisSloan

So it’s a long shot, but Michael David Smith from AOL started an interesting discussion. If Michael Vick were to be convicted of dog fighting and banned from the NFL, could he be the showpiece for The United Football League? It’s an interesting discussion that Michael started in response to Peter King’s comments over at SI.com.

I think I wondered this week if that new football league — you know, the Mark Cuban league — would take Vick as its marquee player. Don’t scoff. Imagine the TV ratings that league would get with Vick quarterbacking the New York Whoevers on Opening Night 2009.

ONLY AND I MEAN ONLY if he gets treatment for what he has done and NEVER does it again and keeps his nose clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!Other than that FORGET IT!!!!!!!!!!The UFL does not need no bad press.

I think it would be a horrible idea for a new football league to open it’s doors to thugs and misfits that are not welcome in the NFL. I have hung out with a few NFL people and I know for a fact that you have to be a complete pile of shit to get kicked out of the NFL. Who wants that as the “marquee” player of a league that is trying to stay around longer than that other league from a few years back… what’s it called? yeah that’s my point… XFL was filled with players that couldn’t hack it and it was all entertainment. I believe this league has a shot and doing some good things, there are a lot of decent players out there that don’t get the chance to make it in the NFL but could make a fairly good career a step above semi-pro football. If the owners bring class to this league it will promote a higher level of athelete to play for these teams.

That’s the last thing the UFL needs is to sully its name with a criminal quarterback. Are you kidding? Keep Vick in jail and keep the UFL clean from the start.

Because Michael Vick has acknowledged what he has done and apologized for it, the UFL should definitely take him in after he has served his time. I agree that the UFL should have a standard of player integrity to keep it respectable.
