NFL Cuts Over 1100 Jobs - Good News for the UFL
The NFL recently announced that they had to lay off some 1100 workers do to the tougher economic times; clearly thats a sign that an alternative lower cost league could work. If you can't afford stupid NFL ticket prices, then enjoy a high quality UFL game at the rate of an NBA or MLB game.
Obviously the other good news from that is that there is plenty of talent available for the United Football League to choose from; hopefully they continue to make carefully thought out decisions.
Back on Track!
The United Football League looks to still be moving forward even with the continually economic downturn. I think the down turn only strengthens the efforts of the league as it gives fans an alternative to extremely overpriced NFL tickets that simply feed the egos of players and owners. While I probably won't get to see a game for a few years as the point for me would be to see professional football without extreme expense, I'd have to travel out of town, possibly out of state and that just cuts into the budget.
Vick not the NFL's Biggest Problem - Player Killings
Let's get real I was reading an article on ESPN today and while Michael Vick is an issue, they have much bigger problems. Over the last 2 years, 2 players have been shot and killed and 2 others have been injured. A conduct policy isn't going to keep your players from going places that are likely to get them shot, personally I don't think it's the leagues responsibility to police this type of activity but the teams.
Business or Pride - Same Pay with Play Time
I was thinking today about the business aspect of a new football league, and I couldn't help but wonder what I'd do.
First, think about it from the business perspective, if you've been at one company for 2 or 3 years and haven't really gotten a promotion or raise outside of the minimum, wouldn't the idea of a raise sound pretty inviting? I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure that I'd at least think long and hard about making the move.
Football Season is Here - Bring it On!
It's hard to believe that college football starts today, year after year it seems to take longer for the season to start back up. Being a fan of just about any type of football I'm really excited about the Alabama Clemson game in Atlanta today. I don't really think that it has National Title implications, but I do think it's going to be fun to watch. Usually those types of games are save for rivalry week, but I don't think these guys have played each other in something like 30 years.
New Platform is More Powerful for the Community
I know many of you who visit the site regularly are probably wondering what's going on; don't worry we're just moving to a new delivery platform. This will allow for a better community longterm and as the league starts to come to fruition being ahead of the game will be vital in our success. During the next few days please pardon any unusual things you see, but feel free to leave a comment as before.
UnitedFootballLeagues.com Design Changes
I've had some readers complain that they were having difficulty reading the content, so the design is being changed today. Please hang on as it should be completed in less than an hour or so.

If you have questions about a career with the United Football League no matter if that's a player or non-player position; the first place to start would be by contacting their office in Jacksonville at 904-598-1031. Just so you know I'm not full of BS, take a look here.
Hartford Football Fans Look Out UFL May Be Headed Your Way
So after the slip that 6 cities had been selected as Inaugural UFL locations, it looks like Hartford is almost a done deal. The Courant confirmed today that Hartford and Northland Investment Corporation are in serious talks about a team.
Michael Huyghue confirms 6 teams on SI.com
So digging through the Michael Vick article over at SI.com I came across an intersting point that hasn't been given much attention. According to comments the UFL commisioner made there are currently 6 cities for the new league; Huyghue is quoted saying there will be "six teams: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Orlando, New York and Hartford." I have to admit that as a Texas guy that's not fun to hear, but as a football guy it's nice to see that they're moving forward.
